It spurred on a unique archaeological project of restoring a village set in 1350 now known as Cosmeston Medieval Village. Visitors can explore the village buildings, be taken on guided tours and even rent out the entire village for celebrations and events.

Penarth has spots on the beach along the Esplanade that are teeming with fossils. It’s one of the best places in Wales for fossil collectors, beachcombers and curious visitors alike. The pebbled beach becomes sandier the closer you tread toward the sea and has plenty of sand exposed during low tide. This can also make for a pleasant spot to have a picnic while building sandcastles in good weather.

Turner House has always been a centre for culture and arts in Penarth since being designed and built by James Pyke Thompson in 1881. It was named Turner House after the English artist J.M.W. Turner, whom James Pyke Thompson greatly admired. Now, all from Penarth and beyond can freely admire his collection whilst learning about the rich history within.
