Bolsover was granted a market town charter almost 800 years ago by Henry III and markets are still held here on Tuesdays and Fridays. The area has a rich and varied history with the first reference appearing in the Domesday book of 1086. The town centre has been designated a conservation area in recognition of its special and architectural interest.
