The Challenge

Bridgnorth is a town in Shropshire, England. It has a thriving market town, with a great local offering full of independent and fine eateries. 

Bridgnorth has a well-known market which runs on a Saturday. Like many other towns Bridgnorth struggled when a lockdown happened with many businesses struggling with regulations which meant they had to cease trading. 

As restrictions eased, local campaigner Love Bridgnorth wanted to ensure the businesses would be more resilient and prepared for the turbulent times ahead with an ability to offer a single place for customers to use online.


The Solution with ShopAppy

Love Bridgnorth secured a grant from the local council and decided to work collaboratively with ShopAppy to create a local virtual marketplace for Bridgnorth businesses to accelerate post-lockdown recovery to boost footfall and spend.

The businesses registered were quickly engaged and interested in joining a digitalised market. The in-person support they received has strengthened awareness of the ShopAppy scheme in the area with a representative supporting them in taking ownership of their profile and updating it with their products/services

Big helps small

Support sessions in Bridgnorth have proved really successful with businesses, councillors and many others attending - interested in getting to know a little more about ShopAppy and Love Bridgnorth. Barclays and Fatface offered to support the businesses in Bridgnorth which is just a small indication of how the platform works to encourage local collaboration.

The Crown Bridgnorth, a local pub acts as the collection and cargo point providing benefits that increase social interaction as well as business benefits to the venue.  


With 53 businesses registered on the site, Love Bridgnorth has a strong local shop window for customers, both residents and visitors. The businesses have taken advantage of the shop local campaigns provided by ShopAppy to generate footfall and spend alongside their own digital platform. The scheme now continues into its second year, with businesses continuing to add to their shops and promote their presence on the platform. Sally is linking initiatives together to support the scheme to grow and further embed in the area.

So far the scheme has attracted over £70k spend in the area with customers looking at more than 8 pages per visit to the site.
