Malton is a fantastic place to visit, set in beautiful countryside, the town has become known for its food and drink – a must-visit for visitors and a great place to live for those who enjoy the finer things of life. The town is packed full of indie shops – and our featured highlights for a virtual wander would be to stop off at Rickshaw which is a small shop with a very colourful personality! All things Fairtrade, recycled, ethically sourced and above all COLOURFUL. Gifts, homewares, jewellery, books, stationery, giftwrap and cards - quirky, unusual and planet-kind. Who needs Amazon? If that isn’t enough for you, stop off at Malton’s very own gift emporium Plum where you will find beautiful and unusual chocolates to wow your friends as well as a wonderful selection of quirky and classy finds. That may have tired you out, so we suggest you sit back with a glass of Yorkshire Explorer gin – after all you deserve it after all that wandering – you can secure a bottle from McMillans of Malton
The walled city attracts millions of tourists, is home to Universities and colleges and the beautiful York minster. Its windy streets win hearts and minds and its rich history is visible on every corner. But York is not stuck in the past, it blends history with a vibrant range of local businesses and a bike to deliver their local products straight to your door. Here are just a few shops to mooch around if you visit online or in person. Of course with all that history, our first stop is York’s antique centre – the largest and friendliest with a community of over 120 dealers who collectively provide the largest and most varied array of antiques, jewellery and collectables in our region. Moving to more modern times, but with a familiar retro twist, a must for gamers is the aptly names Sore Thumb Retro Games for an amazing array of consoles and celebration of all things gaming… And finally on this virtual wander, nip down the Shambles where you will find a little studio Gem Bob Crafts -where you will discover colourful, sparkly, and quirky home decor: animal throw pillows, fabric bunting, textile dolls, patchwork curtains and lots more for your own home or for gifts - specialising in creating custom pieces from rescued, up-cycled, reclaimed & repurposed textiles
A very elegant town with beautiful architecture in its concentrated town centre with spectacular views of Roseberry Topping. It offers a great place to stay and a lovely selection of shops, cafes and places to stay. One or two of our recommendations include Lipsmackers for a tasty sarnie – you can order and collect – there paninis are delicious especially the bacon, brie and cranberry. The Nursery is a very popular shop which has been in the town for over 35 years - an independent traditional small shop that prides itself on supporting British companies where possible with high quality items for little ones. There is lots to browse in this deceptively small shop. You probably need a break after all that, so stop of at Genie Soaps and Skincare for a bit of a pamper… #selfcareStokesley
And finally ...
The Constituency of Rishi Sunak MP, this influential spot is set in a beautiful landscape with a deep rooted history dating back to the Norman times. The town has many stories to tell, and the shopkeepers are happy to share one or two as well! Have a browse at a few favourites online including Out of the Box! (well we love the name) Richmond’s family run Eco store at 10 King Street supplies a great range of dry food goods, ethically sustainable toiletries, homeware products and much, much more…For the best leather accessories from Morocco, look no further than Berber Leather – a really enjoyable browse where you are bound to find that perfect gift. And then there is a must visit – with the gorgeous combination of a shop and a gallery…The Shallery. Enjoy!
