The principles underpinning good creative writing – clarity of expression, originality of thought, and linguistic richness – are fascinating to learn and are useful in later life.

    Our creative writing workshop will help your child write emotive pieces aimed to develop their skillsets and will get them immersed in the art of creative writing through the exploration and critical analysis of a wide variety of genres.

  3. Beginner’s Latin
    Beginner’s Latin
    This course would most benefit students starting out in Latin, those interested in taking Latin to Level 1, Level 2 or GCSE level, or anyone seeking an introduction to classical language and culture.

    Students will learn the basics of Latin language through stories featuring the adventures of Caecilius, a banker living in the Roman city of Pompeii, and his eccentric family. Grammar topics will be taught in lesson, and each learner will have the opportunity to translate in class and ask questions. Through the stories, learners will also receive the opportunity to learn about different aspects of Roman culture, such as the household, the forum and gladiator games.

    Vocabulary learning will be set as homework and students will be quizzed on their knowledge in-lesson.

    Leaners will be encouraged to identify the etymological connections between English and Latin to help solidify their grasp on the vocabulary items.

    Key Grammar Topics: Basic Latin syntax; noun declensions; singular and plural nouns; present, imperfect and perfect tense verbs; personal verb endings; nominative, accusative and dative nouns.

    To write effective, persuasive essays is a key skill that we all need, at some point in our academic career. Being able to write extended pieces of writing to a high standard, is an essential part of producing a convincing piece of work.

    This course will steer your child through the whole essay writing process from analysis of the question to writing an effective conclusion. It will teach them how to advance their argument effectively by employing certain linguistic techniques.

    They will also learn how to plan efficiently, and how to use paragraphs to structure their essay successfully. It will also address how to re-arrange their ideas and put them into effective paragraphs that will present their argument to its best advantage and examine both the grammar within a sentence and the grammar of linking sentences.

    By following the specific techniques taught in this course, they will be able to write a coherent and convincing essay.
