Our Story: The ShopAppy Editorial Mission for Global Retail

Why ShopAppy Exists

ShopAppy is an editorial publication built around a clear conviction: that modern commerce is one of the most interesting and consequential business stories of our era, and that it deserves reporting that takes the operators, brands, and platforms reshaping it as seriously as the technology industry has been taken for the past three decades. Retail, e-commerce, payments, logistics, and the consumer trends that shape all of these are not adjacent topics. They are the structure of how people obtain the goods and services they live with every day, and they are changing faster now than at any point in the recorded history of commerce.

The publication started from a clear gap in the editorial landscape. UK retail trade press tended to focus on the largest chain retailers and the property economics of the high street. US retail coverage skewed toward Amazon and the venture-funded direct-to-consumer brands. Asian and Latin American commerce coverage was concentrated in regional trade publications that did not translate well to the global audience now interested in cross-border commerce dynamics. Genuine global retail coverage with operator-grade detail and accessible writing was not consistently available anywhere. ShopAppy was built to be that publication.

Editorial Principles

We prioritise accuracy, original analysis, and global perspective. Every article cites primary sources where possible. Brand claims are verified independently before publication. Affiliate relationships, sponsorship arrangements, and any other commercial connections that might affect coverage decisions are disclosed transparently at the start of any relevant article.

Editorial independence from advertisers and sponsors is treated as the foundational asset of the publication. Without it, the audience cannot trust the coverage, and without that trust, the publication has no commercial value to advertisers or sponsors either. The relationship between editorial independence and commercial sustainability is mutually reinforcing rather than in conflict, but it requires consistent discipline to maintain.

What We Cover

ShopAppy publishes regular coverage across twelve top-level categories that together describe the modern commerce stack: News, E-commerce, E-commerce Platforms, Retail Industry, Payments and Fintech, Startups and Business, Digital Marketing and SEO, Logistics and Supply Chain, Local and Independent Retail, International Trade, Consumer Trends, and Brands and Stories. Each category has multiple subcategories that cover the topical depth modern commerce requires.

Editorial Team

The ShopAppy editorial team is distributed across multiple commerce-relevant cities including London, New York, Los Angeles, Berlin, Tokyo, Bengaluru, Mexico City, and others. The distributed team structure is deliberate. Modern commerce is genuinely global, and editorial coverage needs to reflect the actual geographic distribution of the stories rather than defaulting to a single market perspective.
