Poland’s classifieds market in 2026: OLX, Allegro Lokalnie, Vinted, OtoMoto, Otodom and newcomer Tolbra compared

Poland’s classifieds market in 2026 is not one market. It is six overlapping ones, each with its own owner, its own fee logic and its own idea of who should pay: OLX for general listings, OtoMoto for cars, Otodom for property, Vinted for fashion, Allegro Lokalnie for local deals and Allegro itself for anything that ships in a box. Into that map a new local marketplace, Tolbra, launched in Poland this year with a model that deliberately sits closer to the old classifieds idea than to the commission-driven marketplaces. This guide compares all six on the questions that actually decide where a Polish seller lists: what it costs, who pays, what the platform handles and what it leaves to the two people doing the deal.

Every fee below was checked against the platform’s own help center, price list or terms at the time of writing. Where a platform publishes a mechanism but hides the exact number behind a calculator or a login, the mechanism is described and the number is not invented.

In brief

  • Poland’s classifieds market is split by vertical, not by brand. OLX dominates general listings, OtoMoto cars, Otodom property, Vinted second-hand fashion; Allegro and Allegro Lokalnie sit on top as the transaction layer.
  • Three fee models coexist: pay-to-list (OtoMoto, Otodom, OLX in cars and property), commission on the sale (Allegro, Allegro Lokalnie buy-now, Vinted via the buyer) and free-with-limits (OLX general categories, Allegro Lokalnie local listings, Tolbra).
  • Allegro Lokalnie charges 7.9% commission on buy-now and auction listings (4.9% in electronics) and 0% on a plain local listing; Vinted’s buyer pays “usually 5%” plus 2.90 zł per order.
  • Tolbra’s model: free listings up to a per-category limit, paid publication above it, optional paid promotion, no commission and no payments handled between users.
  • The newcomer’s real gap is liquidity, not price. A marketplace that has just launched cannot match OLX or Allegro on traffic, so its early value is cost and category depth, not reach.

Who owns which category in Poland’s classifieds market?

The short answer: nobody owns all of it. Poland’s classifieds market matured as a set of vertical leaders rather than a single general marketplace, which is why a seller with a car, a flat and a wardrobe to clear ends up on three different sites. The table below is the map most Polish sellers carry in their heads.

Platform Core territory Model in one line Owner group
OLX General classifieds: home, electronics, services, jobs, plus cars and property Free within limits, pay-to-list in selected verticals, paid promotion OLX Group
OtoMoto Cars, vans, trucks, motorcycles Pay-to-list for private sellers, packages for dealers OLX Group
Otodom Residential and commercial property Activation fee per listing, packages for agencies OLX Group
Vinted Second-hand fashion, kids, home Free to sell, buyer pays a protection fee Vinted
Allegro Lokalnie Local pickup deals, used goods Free listing, commission only on buy-now and auctions Allegro
Allegro Everything that ships, new and used Commission on every sale, rate set per category Allegro
Tolbra General local classifieds across 2,500+ categories Free up to a per-category limit, no commission, optional promotion Xam Technology

Three of the six incumbents belong to the same group. OLX, OtoMoto and Otodom share an owner, which is why a rental listing bought through Otodom’s Rent PRO product is exported to OLX automatically. That vertical integration is the structural fact a newcomer runs into first: the general site and the two biggest verticals already talk to each other.

The Allegro side of the map is the transaction layer. Allegro processes the payment and charges the seller a commission; Allegro Lokalnie extends the same rails to local deals but switches the commission off when the buyer and seller simply meet. For a deeper look at how Allegro’s seller economics actually land on the invoice, see the analysis of who really pays for Allegro Smart.

How do the six platforms make money? The fee models side by side

Every platform in Poland’s classifieds market answers three questions differently: does it cost anything to publish, does the platform take a cut of the sale, and does the platform touch the money at all. The combination is what a seller is really choosing between.

Platform Cost to publish Commission on sale Who pays the fee Platform handles payment?
OLX Free within a per-subcategory limit renewed every 30 days; paid in cars and property (with exceptions), services priced per listing None on a classifieds deal Seller (listing and promotion) Not for a standard classifieds deal
Allegro Publishing is part of the seller account; commission is the core charge Yes, per category, on item price plus delivery; minimum 0.25 zł net (0.31 zł gross) Seller Yes
Allegro Lokalnie Free (vehicles 14.99 to 59.99 zł, property 4.99 to 109.99 zł) 7.9% on buy-now and auction listings, 4.9% in electronics, 0% on a local listing Seller Yes on buy-now, no on local pickup
Vinted Free None charged to the seller Buyer: usually 5% plus 2.90 zł per order Yes
OtoMoto Paid for private sellers, price set by vehicle value band, 15 or 30 days None Seller No
Otodom Activation fee per listing; Rent PRO 49 zł per rental listing None Seller or agency No
Tolbra Free up to a per-category limit; publication fee above the limit; optional paid promotion None Seller (only above the free limit or for promotion) No: buyer and seller settle directly

Read the last column first. It divides the market into platforms that are parties to the transaction (Allegro, Allegro Lokalnie buy-now, Vinted) and platforms that are noticeboards (OLX, OtoMoto, Otodom, Tolbra). A noticeboard cannot offer buyer protection because it never holds the money; a transaction platform can, and charges for it. That is the trade a Polish seller makes every time they pick a site, whether they think of it that way or not.

OLX: free with limits, paid in cars and property

OLX remains the default general classifieds site in Poland, and its pricing reflects that position: it is free where volume matters and paid where the ticket size is high. According to OLX’s own help center, a user can add a listing for free as long as free listings remain in the given subcategory’s limit, and that pool of free listings renews every 30 days. In categories where the number of free listings is zero, every publication is paid.

The paid verticals are the expensive ones. OLX lists Motoryzacja (cars) as paid, with exceptions for car parts, motorcycle parts, tires and wheels, car audio and accessories, and Nieruchomości (property) as paid with exceptions for several rental and sale subcategories such as apartments for rent, houses for rent, garages for rent and rooms. Services are priced per listing and per subcategory; the help center quotes examples such as translations at 9.99 zł, tutoring at 13.99 zł, IT services at 16.99 zł and appliance repair at 18.99 zł, each for 30 days. Jobs use dynamic pricing shown while the listing form is being filled in.

What OLX does not do on a standard classifieds deal is take a commission. The seller pays to publish where publishing is paid, pays optionally to promote, and then arranges the sale with the buyer. That keeps the platform’s revenue tied to listing volume in a handful of high-value categories rather than to the value of what changes hands. The full breakdown sits in OLX’s help article on how much it costs to add a listing.

Why the free limit is the number that matters

For a private seller clearing a garage, the 30-day free pool is the whole product. For a small business that lists dozens of items a month in one subcategory, the pool runs out and OLX becomes a per-listing cost. That distinction, hobby seller versus micro-business, is the same fault line the newcomer’s per-category free limit is drawn along, which is not an accident.

Allegro and Allegro Lokalnie: commission versus a free local listing

Allegro is the transaction marketplace and charges accordingly. A commission is calculated every time a sale is concluded, the rate depends on the category the offer was posted in, and it is charged on the final item price plus the delivery cost the buyer chose. Allegro simplified this in 2025: since July 3 the rate in most subcategories is uniform regardless of product price, there is a single minimum commission of 0.25 zł net (0.31 zł gross) across all categories, and a featured offer carries an additional commission equal to 0.75 times the category rate. The exact percentage per category lives in Annex 4 to Allegro’s terms.

Allegro Lokalnie is the same company’s answer to OLX, and its fee page is unusually clear. Posting a listing is free, with the exception of motor vehicle categories that require a paid option (14.99 to 59.99 zł depending on type and tier) and property listings priced from 4.99 to 109.99 zł. The commission is charged only on buy-now and auction listings: 7.9% of the item value as the standard rate and 4.9% in electronics. A plain local listing, where the buyer and seller arrange the handover themselves, carries 0% commission. Allegro’s help page on Allegro Lokalnie fees also lists the delivery add-ons, such as 10.95 zł for an InPost locker.

The practical reading: Allegro Lokalnie already offers a zero-commission local listing, so “no commission” alone is not a differentiator in Poland’s classifieds market. What Allegro Lokalnie charges for is the moment the deal moves onto its rails. Sellers who want to understand the true all-in cost of being visible on Allegro, including the promotion layer, can read the breakdown of Allegro promotion costs and the abstract commission.

Vinted: the buyer pays, the seller does not

Vinted inverted the classifieds fee model and it worked. Selling on Vinted is free, in the platform’s own words: “Sprzedaż na Vinted jest bezpłatna”. The revenue comes from the buyer, who pays a mandatory Buyer Protection fee that is added automatically to every order placed through Vinted. Vinted’s help page describes it as usually 5% of the item price plus a fixed 2.90 zł. Sources: Vinted’s platform page and its Buyer Protection fee article.

Two consequences follow. First, Vinted is a transaction platform, not a noticeboard: it holds the money, ships through integrated carriers and refunds under its protection scheme, which is what the buyer’s fee funds. Second, it is a vertical: fashion, kids’ goods and home items travel well through a parcel locker, cars and sofas do not. Vinted is the strongest player in Poland’s classifieds market for the categories it covers and irrelevant for the rest, which is exactly why the general sites still exist.

OtoMoto and Otodom: the pay-to-list verticals

The two OLX Group verticals run the purest pay-to-list model in the country. On OtoMoto, a private seller’s car listing appears in the service only after the fee is paid; OtoMoto’s own guide for private sellers says the price depends on the vehicle category and on the value of the vehicle being sold, with bands set out in the price list, and that listings run for 15 or 30 days with optional promotional packages. There is no free tier for a private car listing. The mechanism is described on OtoMoto’s page on how much a listing costs; the exact amount for a given car comes out of their calculator.

Otodom works the same way for property, with an activation fee per listing and packages for agencies. Its rental product, Rent PRO, is priced at 49 zł per new rental listing and bundles automatic export to OLX and an automatic bump on Otodom after seven days, which Otodom says makes the included promotions up to 50% cheaper than buying them separately. Sale-listing prices for private owners sit in Otodom’s price list.

Neither vertical takes a commission, because neither touches the money: a car or a flat changes hands at a notary, a bank or a dealer’s desk, not inside an app. The fee is for the audience. That audience is the moat, and it is why a car listing on a general site in Poland has historically converted worse than the same listing on OtoMoto, even when the general site was cheaper.

Where does Tolbra fit? A classifieds model without the commission

Tolbra launched in Poland in 2026 as a local marketplace for buying and selling across a dozen-plus main sections and more than 2,500 categories, from motoring and property through electronics, home and garden, fashion and kids’ goods to jobs, services and agriculture. Its positioning is the classic classifieds idea, rebuilt: the platform is a noticeboard with strong search, and the two people doing the deal settle it between themselves. On tolbra.com the pitch on launch is simple, first sellers add listings for free.

The fee model, as set out in Tolbra’s terms, has three parts. Listings are free up to a limit of concurrently active listings within each main category; above that limit a publication fee applies. Promotion, which raises a listing’s visibility in search results, is a separate paid service. And the platform’s payments cover only its own paid services: there is no commission on a sale, no payment between users processed by the platform, no escrow and no buyer protection scheme, because the platform never holds the buyer’s money.

What the newcomer built that the incumbents did not lead with

  • Category depth from day one. More than 2,500 categories with filters tuned to each vertical, so a tractor and a pram do not share a form.
  • Location-first search. The search engine understands words and places, every town in Poland, with a radius around it, which is the query a local buyer actually types.
  • Company pages. A business can publish its own page with a catalog of offers, a lightweight storefront without building a shop.
  • Moderation before publication. Every listing is reviewed before it goes live, and illegal content can be reported in one click, with reports handled under the EU’s Digital Services Act.

The honest counterweight: none of those features solve the newcomer’s core problem, which is that a marketplace is worth exactly as much as the number of people on it today. Tolbra’s cost structure is the cheapest in the table for a small seller who stays within the free limit, and its category structure is arguably the most complete, but its audience in launch year is a fraction of OLX’s. Sellers should price that in, and the platform’s own launch messaging does not pretend otherwise.

Head to head: Tolbra against each incumbent

The matrix below scores each incumbent against the newcomer on the four things a seller feels: cost to list, cost to sell, reach today and what the platform does for you beyond hosting the listing. “Reach” is the honest column, and Tolbra loses it everywhere in 2026.

Incumbent Where Tolbra is cheaper or simpler Where the incumbent wins today Verdict for a private seller
OLX No paid verticals: cars and property listings are not pay-to-list up to the free limit; deeper category tree Traffic, brand habit, cross-listing with OtoMoto and Otodom List on both; OLX for reach, Tolbra for cost in the categories OLX charges for
Allegro No commission, no delivery rails to pay for; suits bulky local goods Payment, buyer trust, shipping integration, scale for anything that ships Different tools: Allegro for shippable retail, Tolbra for local classifieds
Allegro Lokalnie Free vehicle and property listings within the limit versus 14.99 to 109.99 zł; no 7.9% on buy-now Allegro’s audience and the optional buy-now rails Closest rival in model; Lokalnie wins on reach, Tolbra on category depth and vehicle/property cost
Vinted Nothing added to the buyer’s price; works for goods that do not fit a parcel Fashion liquidity, integrated shipping, buyer protection Vinted for clothes, Tolbra for everything Vinted does not carry
OtoMoto A car listing within the free limit costs nothing versus a value-based fee for 15 or 30 days The car-buying audience, dealer inventory, brand Serious sellers keep OtoMoto; Tolbra is the free second listing
Otodom No activation fee within the limit Property audience, agency packages, OLX export Same logic as OtoMoto: reach still has to be bought

The pattern is consistent. The newcomer wins on price in precisely the categories where the incumbents charge the most (cars, property, services) and on structure (categories, filters, radius search, company pages). The incumbents win on the one asset that cannot be launched, only accumulated. Which is why the useful question for a seller is not “which is better” but “which is better for this listing, this week”, and the answer is often both.

What does a new classifieds entrant need to win in Poland?

Poland has watched several attempts at a new general marketplace, and the ones that faded usually failed on the same five things. This is the checklist any newcomer, Tolbra included, is being measured against.

  1. Liquidity in at least one vertical. A general site cannot be liquid everywhere at once. The realistic path is to become the best place for two or three categories where the incumbents charge the most, then widen.
  2. Trust without holding the money. A noticeboard cannot refund a buyer, so it has to earn trust through moderation, reporting and clear rules. Pre-publication review and DSA-compliant reporting are the minimum, not a differentiator.
  3. A seller cost structure that stays cheap as the seller grows. Free-with-limits works for hobby sellers; the limit and the publication fee decide whether micro-businesses stay or leave for Allegro.
  4. Search that understands Polish places. Radius search around every town matters more in a country of medium-sized cities than in one dominated by a single metro.
  5. Distribution beyond its own domain. Search engines, marketplace cloning across markets and cross-border sellers are where the incumbents are already fighting; the analysis of why EU retailer marketplaces clone countries explains the playbook the newcomer would eventually have to follow or counter.

A newcomer also enters a market under pressure from outside. Cross-border platforms have been pushing into Polish e-commerce hard, and the earlier analysis of why Temu and Shein pivot to EU local fulfillment shows how fast the low end of the market moves. A local classifieds site does not compete with Temu on new goods, but it does compete for the same seller attention.

Poland first: how the newcomer plans to grow beyond one market

Tolbra is explicit that it starts in Poland and that further countries and languages are planned. The more telling detail is architectural: the service was built from the start so that it can be launched on a new market without starting from scratch, and the site already runs on a country-and-language URL structure with Polish as the default and an English-language variant for the Polish market published alongside it.

That is the same sequencing the incumbents used. OLX Group scaled a single classifieds engine across markets; Allegro’s marketplace has been cloning its Polish playbook into neighboring countries; and even TikTok Shop’s European rollout, covered in the piece on TikTok Shop becoming a pan-European marketplace, followed a “win one market, template the rest” logic. For a classifieds site the template is cheaper to copy than for a payments-and-logistics marketplace, because there are no local carrier integrations or payment licences to rebuild, only categories, language and moderation. That is the newcomer’s structural advantage in expansion, and the reason the Poland launch is best read as a first market rather than a home market.

Which platform for which sale: a seller’s playbook

Translating the fee table into decisions, here is how a Polish private seller or micro-business should route listings in 2026, based only on the fee mechanics verified above.

  1. Clothes, shoes, kids’ goods that fit a parcel: Vinted first. Selling is free and the buyer carries the 5% plus 2.90 zł fee. List the same item on a free classifieds site only if it is bulky or you want local pickup.
  2. A car: OtoMoto for the audience, and accept the value-based fee as the price of reach. Add a free listing on Allegro Lokalnie only if you are willing to pay its 14.99 to 59.99 zł vehicle option; a listing on Tolbra within the free limit costs nothing and adds a second surface.
  3. A flat or a house: Otodom for exposure, OLX for the overlap, and a free classifieds listing as the zero-cost extra. Never rely on a single site for a six-figure asset.
  4. Furniture, appliances, tools, garden, anything heavy: the noticeboards. OLX within its free limit, Allegro Lokalnie as a local listing at 0% commission, Tolbra within its free limit. Skip buy-now on Lokalnie unless you need the payment rails, because that is where the 7.9% appears.
  5. Small new goods you sell repeatedly: Allegro, and treat the per-category commission on price plus delivery as a cost of doing business. A classifieds free limit will not stretch across a catalog.
  6. Services and tutoring: OLX prices these per listing (9.99 to 18.99 zł per 30 days in the examples it publishes); a free classifieds listing is the obvious comparison to run.
  7. A small business without a shop: a company page on a classifieds site with an offer catalog gives a storefront for the price of the listings; test whether the audience is there before paying for one anywhere.

Common mistakes Polish sellers make when choosing a platform

The fee tables above are simple; the mistakes come from applying them to the wrong listing.

  • Treating “free” as free. Every free tier in Poland’s classifieds market has a limit: OLX per subcategory per 30 days, Tolbra per main category. Sellers who cross it without noticing meet a publication fee.
  • Turning on buy-now by reflex. On Allegro Lokalnie a local listing is 0% and a buy-now listing is 7.9%. For a sofa collected in person, the payment rails add cost and nothing else.
  • Listing a car on a general site alone. The cheapest listing is worth little without the car-buying audience; the pay-to-list fee on OtoMoto is buying reach, not a slot.
  • Comparing seller fees only. Vinted’s seller fee is zero and its buyer fee is not; the buyer sees a higher price, which affects what the seller can ask.
  • Judging a new marketplace on price alone. A newcomer’s free limit is real, and so is its smaller audience. The right use in launch year is as an additional free surface, not a replacement for the site where the buyers already are.
  • Ignoring who holds the money. Noticeboards cannot refund you. If a listing needs buyer protection, it needs a transaction platform, and that protection is what the fee pays for.

FAQ

Which classifieds site in Poland is completely free to sell on?

None is unlimited. Vinted is free for the seller on every sale but charges the buyer a protection fee. OLX is free within a per-subcategory limit that renews every 30 days and paid in cars, property and services. Allegro Lokalnie is free to list and 0% on a local listing, but 7.9% on buy-now. Tolbra is free up to a per-category limit, with a publication fee above it. The honest answer is that every platform is free for a small seller and stops being free at a different point.

Does OLX take a commission on sales?

Not on a standard classifieds deal. OLX earns from paid listings in categories where the free pool is zero, chiefly cars and property with exceptions, from per-listing prices in services and from optional promotion. The sale itself is arranged between the buyer and the seller. That is the classic classifieds model, and it is the same model the newcomer Tolbra uses.

How much does Allegro Lokalnie charge?

Listing is free, except vehicles (14.99 to 59.99 zł depending on type and tier) and property (4.99 to 109.99 zł). Commission is charged only on buy-now and auction listings: 7.9% of the item value as standard and 4.9% in electronics. A plain local listing, where you meet the buyer, carries 0% commission. Delivery add-ons such as an InPost locker are priced separately, at 10.95 zł in the published list.

What does Vinted’s buyer protection fee cost in Poland?

Vinted’s Polish help page describes the Buyer Protection fee as usually 5% of the item price plus a fixed 2.90 zł, added automatically to every order placed through Vinted. It is mandatory and paid by the buyer. Sellers pay nothing to list or sell, which Vinted states directly on its platform page.

Is it free to list a car on OtoMoto as a private seller?

No. OtoMoto’s guide for private sellers states that listings appear in the service after a fee is paid, that the price depends on the vehicle category and the vehicle’s value, with bands in the price list, and that listings run for 15 or 30 days with optional promotional packages. The exact amount for a specific car is shown by OtoMoto’s calculator before you pay.

How is Tolbra different from OLX?

Both are noticeboards that do not take a commission or handle payments between users. The differences are in what is free and how the catalog is built. Tolbra offers free listings up to a per-category limit across all sections, including cars and property, with a publication fee above the limit and optional promotion; OLX charges to publish in cars, property and services. Tolbra also launched with more than 2,500 categories and radius search around every town in Poland. OLX has the audience; Tolbra, in its launch year, does not yet.

Should a seller list the same item on several Polish platforms?

For anything above a few hundred złoty, yes, provided each listing is free or the fee is justified by that platform’s audience. The combinations that make sense follow the fee mechanics: OtoMoto plus a free classifieds listing for a car, Otodom plus OLX for property, Vinted plus a free local listing for bulky fashion or kids’ items, and a 0% local listing on Allegro Lokalnie alongside OLX or Tolbra for furniture and appliances.

Next steps

Poland’s classifieds market rewards sellers who match the listing to the fee model rather than to the brand, and the newcomer adds one more free surface to that calculation without changing the rule that reach still has to be bought where it matters. For the transaction side of the same question, the breakdown of who pays for Allegro Smart shows how the largest platform’s costs land on a seller, and the note on Allegro promotion costs covers the visibility layer that every platform in this comparison sells in one form or another.
